I work with an amazing organization called Flashes of Hope. They connect photographers with hospitals to create portraits of young cancer patients and their families.
It is a heart wrenching few hours. You see the innocence of their young faces and the pain in their bodies.
The kids are all at different stages of treatment, some joyfully recovering and some working through a tough spot.
However, when you walk onto the 7th floor, you would think it was a just a regular pediatric wing…full of healthy kids. The positive energy from the doctors, nurses and volunteers is contagious!
I love seeing the interaction between the parents and their children. You can see the heartache they have been through and you can see the hope in their eyes.
Flashes of Hope is operated by volunteers. If you want more information or if you want to pitch in, please visit flashesofhope.org
We appreciate donations so we can provide printed portraits to the families.
